Adaptive, Corrective and FunctionalHelping people discover their physical potential is my passion. By combining yoga, functional movement and corrective exercise I help my students restore mobility, prevent injury, boost energy and feel amazing!
I believe less is more and that building a strong foundation the most important step in achieving higher levels of fitness and performance, whether in sports or just day to day life. In my classes and training sessions we work on improving breathing patterns and finding energy leaks. Dysfunctional patterns are corrected and balance is restored.
I believe in pain free movement in order to achieve a state of homeostasis, and creating intelligently designed programs is my passion.
I’ve been teaching yoga since 2003 with training and experience above and beyond what is required for yoga teachers. My training consist of high level anatomy, biomechanics and functional movement training from some of the most respected experts in their fields. I teach group classes, private sessions and am in the process of releasing online courses and Continuing Education for yoga/fitness/movement professionals.
From Gym Rat to Yoga Teacher
Then in 1994 I got sidelined by an auto-accident and an immersion into the world of Chiropractic, Neurology, Physical Therapy and Massage ensued. After a year of rehab I was able to return to my previous level of fitness but still suffered constant nagging daily pain.
Fortunately I had persistent yogi friends who finally succeeded 5 years later in getting me to try yoga. After that first 2 hour session of Ashtanga yoga practice I was sore for 5 days but miraculously my pain was gone. Muscle soreness and pain are drastically different and my immersion into the world of Yoga began.
I practiced regularly 4 days a week. As far as students go I had no filters. I grunted and groaned my way through classes, distracting everyone around me no doubt. I stopped classes with my incessant questions and ill timed comments. I subscribed to Yoga Journal and other magazines, studying the anatomy of yoga. Within six months I was pain free.
Since my yoga journey began I have taught thousands of people thousands of hours of yoga. I have had the opportunity to work with professional athletes as well as those suffering Traumatic Brain Injury and everything in between. I love teaching people how to wake up their muscles and practice postures they never thought possible.
As a business owner, entrepreneur and coach my goal is to help others achieve better structural alignment and functional movement through a focused and dedicated practice of yoga.
