Alignment GeekAnnoyingly meticulous about asana utilizing an array of props in order to find greater ease and comfort. Properly aligned joints are key for achieving good mobility.
Movement MavinMobility is one of 3 key components of fitness. Strength and Flexibility the other two. Without good joint mobility strength turns to stiffness and flexibility leads to injury.

What My Students Are Saying
Don’t just take it from me, let my clients do the talking!
Jean has a gift for seeing and tending to the structural alignment of the body. Through her careful observation and attention I have witness her help students find ease in their bodies that they never thought possible. As a teacher she is very generous with her wisdom and truly seeks to help each of her students find ease and stability in their body. I am grateful to know her and have had the opportunity to learn from her. Andrea Carvalho
“I enjoyed learning with you while I was able. It was a pleasure. You are a wonderful teacher, and I learned things from you I haven’t learned from any other teacher. Blessings to you and your family. Namaste. Xoxo.” Emily Hamilton
” I always seem to try something I’ve never done before at Jean’s studio, whether it is a restorative pose so relaxing I almost fall asleep or hanging upside down on some ropes. I love that I can keep learning here! Yogi friends in this area I recommend taking a class or workshop with Jean.” Belinda Kelly
“As I was building my studio, Jean offered to help with, at first, small things…ideas, concepts, etc. As the studio continued to be built, she offered more and more help, but her best attribute is her communication. She is very clear in directions and communicates very well with both the students and staff. I HIGHLY recommend Jean!” Shay Camp-Masias
“This is not just any Yoga studio it is an environment that the people really care and become connected. It is about learning what your body is capable of and understanding its future! Jean Hoiland you are a great teacher! I am always inspired by your caring yet straightforward teaching. Well really I just want legs like yours.” Jenni Sample
My introduction to yoga was with Jean Hoiland. I’ve been to a few other studios with other teachers and the contrast is stark. As a beginner, it was so important to have someone guide me and correct me. I got stronger every month and never felt better. I am now addicted to yoga. Julie Packer
Frequently Asked Questions
What do you teach?
I teach the physical practice of yoga along with the importance of breathing and the role of bhandhas (energy locks/seals). I also focus on the importance of restorative poses (legs on a chair or up the wall) in your practice. I like to teach what are called foundational postures in a way that makes sense and allows student to progress to more advanced practices.
How is your teaching different?
I teach awareness of how to position your limbs in order to achieve correct alignment of the joint. Incorrect join movement leads to pain, injury and sometimes surgery. My years of experience teaching ages 6-86 and everyone from professional athletes to people with Traumatic Brain Injury have developed a keen eye and skill for assessing peoples movement tendencies and helping them make the appropriate corrections. There is no substitute for experience.
Who do you work with?
I work with everyone from professional athletes rehabbing injuries to senior citizens dealing with pain. I also work with other yoga teachers, helping them develop their teaching style and the fine art of observation.
If I schedule a private session will you work with my PT, Chiro, Physician...?
Yes I will. I feel it is important to share information in order to create the best protocol for healing.
